------- Features -------
What is it?. Our on-line directory is an Internet home for a list of your organization’s members. The directory is accessible and searchable by all members to facilitate their contacting and communicating with each other. Fully Searchable. You can search on any text contained in a member’s record, even on hidden fields, to find members. You can add as many fields as you wish to the member record model. So if you have a hidden ‘Dues Paid’ field, you can find all the members who have not paid their dues without exposing that information to the public. Administrator Controlled. The administrator controls the content of the directory, including fonts, colors, and backgrounds. You may have more than one administrator. Send Emails. Members may send email messages to individuals, groups, or the administrator. Hidden Fields. As the administrator, you can add any number of fields to the member record model to keep any information you wish about members. The hidden fields would only be accessible by the administrator. Password Protection. You may choose to control access to your directory through individual passwords. The password function may be removed if you wish to make your directory fully public for read-only access. Member Pictures. You can include a picture in each member’s record, if you wish, as well as a family picture. Define Groups. Each member can belong to one or more groups, which you define, such as a praise team or finance committee. Anyone can display the group membership or send them an email. You can list the groups to see what groups are active. We have some experience with on line directories, such as LinkedIn and directories offered to the on-line community, and we know why they are not appropriate for many organizations. First, these on line directories depend on the members to participate in uploading and maintaining their own information. Many members of church groups, service clubs, etc. don't want to, and will not, get on line and upload their information. So you end up having to have an administrator, who would need the password of any record that needs attention. This is a problem. Second, many groups want to control the content of their directories to make sure it is appropriate. Again, one or more administrators would be needed. Third, it is desirable to have a quick search of one or more sub-groups to find the members of say, committee A and committee B and send them an email. That is why we developed this on line directory service. |
